Surrealism+Disney

A short film by Salvador Dali and Walt Disney which was started in 1945 but cancelled due to the war and dwindling Disney funds. It was rediscovered after Fantasia came out in 1999 by Disney's nephew and then finished in 2003.

Josh Keyes

"The imagery is essentially an evolving hybrid that embodies my fascination of myth, folk tales, alchemical and metaphysical imagery, scientific illustration, and Jungian concepts. Interlaced throughout the work is an admiration and concern for the natural world."

-Josh Keyes was born in 1969 in Tacoma Washington. Keyes graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and later received his MFA in painting from Yale University. Keyes currently lives and works in Portland Oregon.

Hype Machine

The supposedly most anticipated video drop of the year. Last years was dope, and this one is pretty sweet. Candide is widely considered the best skier in the world and he just won the world freeride championship. That means he has won every contest staple in freeride; from xgames pipe gold to big mountain glory. Candide is King.

and last years:

Medicina Rosa

I have had these photos burned into my memory since i saw them for the first time. They are hauntingly beautiful for some reason. Most interestingly, the images were made simply by pouring varnish into a fishbowl.

Hey look, another blog..

Hi folks, so I finally decided that I should start a blog. I peruse so much content when I surf the web, and I find so many gems, that I decided I should share it on here. I am constantly searching for incredible art, video, music, and silliness. I often feel this mix of inspiration, and then anxiety when I find good art on the web. I am amazed at how the world as progressed in the last 20 years, and how my generation is a product of this. There are so many phenomenal artists all over the world creating, and i want to find them. This blog is about the new style of art, turbo-futurism if you will, that is the most contemporary artform of today. I'm not into weird or ambiguous art. I want to be sedated by beauty, I want to be overwhelmed with style. I love big, bold color, and I love seeing and discovering talent.

But to start out, I am going to post what I am all about. I am a photographer. I will graduate from the Art Institute of Colorado in September, and I will follow my dream of becoming a traveling ski photographer. I also will pursue other outlets of the photography business with my general portfolio which contains everything from fine art to portraiture, to food and architecture. I want to do it all! I am inspired by it all, so why not.

So, here is my website: http://jackboyd.carbonmade.com/

-And here are some of my videos, starting with my final project for Digital Storytelling-

Important Questions with Josh Bishop from Jack Boyd on Vimeo.

-Here is a short improvisational video i shot on a borrowed Canon 7D. I was hanging out and then assisting at a photo shoot that my classmates had drawn numbers to shoot at. Our goofy professor, Dave Neligh, often brings in some of his colleagues to talk to upper division classes. His longtime makeup artist and stylist Sedrique Olison, who has worked on everyone from the Broncos' cheerleaders to Barack Obama, came in and offered to do a collaborative photoshoot with another friend of our professor, Miejhan Mock- a international supermodel. The shoot was a bit crazy, there were 6 photographers, 4 sets, 4 wardrobe changes and 3 makeup changes. We drew numbers in class to see who would shoot and i did not win, but i did go to assist. When i saw that a friend was borrowing a 7D i asked if i could shoot a card's worth of data. This is what i got. I really want this camera now!

-and lastly, here is another project i did for Digital Storytelling. I was under the gun after my previous ideas had fallen through, when i remembered being inspired by Cookie Time at Beaver Creek. If you don't know, they give out free, fresh baked cookies at the base of the mountain at 3:00 everyday. I shot this in a day, and edited it in a weekend.

So that's the start. This should be interesting, keep following, i promise to keep this fresh with content!
